Police Outreach Programme

As part of the our corporate social responsibility the hotel has partnered with the Airport Police station and makes quarterly donations towards the work of the police force.

The Ghana Police faces a lot of challenges which hinders the ability to perform its duties. This is why the hotel came up with the initiative to contribute its quota towards the development of the Ghana Police.

The main aim of this project is to make the Ghana Police as dependable and swift in its duties as possible and to help in curbing crime.

The hotel links its ishare programme with its police project in order to inculcate the spirit of patriotism amongst its ishare children and schools.

The Airport Police project is currently ongoing and there are plans to expand it to nearby police stations notably the Dzorwulu and the East Legon police stations.

As part of the African Regent Hotel's corporate social responsibility, we took on the initiative of "I share" Hospitality programme. This project came into inception during a 2011 brainstorm session over our community footprints. This project is aimed at creating awareness to children about hospitality and its corresponding careers so that they grow up knowing what it is and practice it the right way. The word hospitality alone means cordial reception, welcoming someone with kindness and courtesy. Hospitality has been in existence since the beginning of time and has played an essential role in our social life.

Today hospitality is present everywhere. It is a spirit towards our fellow-man. The aim of our I-Share initiative is to create a heightened awareness of hospitality as well the hospitality industry. We have organised various fun activities for seven selected schools in our vicinity.

The schools include;
Pride of the East School
Mary Mother of Good Council
Alsyd Academy
Jack and Jill School
Association Community International School
Dzorwulu Primary School
The Roman Ridge School

We targeted children within the age range of 9 years and 13 years (4th Grade to 8th grade) who have completed training on food and beverage and housekeeping. The training included teaching the children kitchen hygiene, basic recipes and table etiquette.

The house keeping department taught the children about personal hygiene, house cleaning, laundry and how to work on stains. We had a display of a bed and our house keeping supervisor demonstrated how to lay a bed; hotel style.

The "I Share" Hospitality Project has six patrons including:
Dr Ama Boohene-Andah - Brainwave Consult Limited
Dr. Mrs Turkson - Accra Polytechnic
Ama K Abebrese - Actress and Hostess
Mr. Ahmed Dasuki - Business Consultant
Naomi Nelson - Global Media Alliance
Juliet Amoah - British Council

The Project is still ongoing and we are hoping to expand to other schools. If you would like contribute please contact us 0289922222

AFRICAN REGENT HOTEL, OFFICIAL HOSPITALITY PARTNER FOR PANAFEST 2017 -

27/06/2017

The African Regent Hotel is the official hotel sponsor for the 2017 Pan African historical theatre festival (PANAFEST). The 10 day festival is scheduled to take place from July 25th to August 4th.

PANAFEST, started in 1992, is a cultural event held in Ghana every two years, for Africans and people of African descent living in the Diaspora. This festival was created to promote and enhance unity, Pan-Africanism, and the development of the continent of Africa.

With its perfect marriage with Emancipation Day, these two festivals have potentially become a viable source for economic, political and spiritual reunification of the African Family, the world over. The promotion of Pan-Africanism – unity as an indispensable foundation for the struggle for a total economic and political liberation and advancement, has become the core of the goals of PANAFEST for the Global African Family, over the years.

The coastline of Ghana, with concentration on Cape-Coast and Elmina towns, resonates deeply with the Pan-African movement. Over there, memorials have been erected as a tribute to the people and places that were affected so dramatically by the slave trade. The festival, however, is also a celebration of indigenous Africa and its future. It serves as a forum for discussion and recognition of ongoing development on the continent.

Past guests of the festival include Nelson Mandela, Kofi Annan and Nobel laureate Professor, Wole Soyinka. Traditional art forms of dancing and indiginous music, take on special significance during the festival. Activities for the festival are spread over a week and a half period.

Over the years, PANAFEST has featured many performing and visual artist of international acclaim from Africa and the Diaspora. Renowned musicians such as Steve Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Isaac Hayes from the US, Rita Marley from the Caribbean and Yvonne Chaka Chaka from South Africa, have all graced PANAFEST with their performances.

This year, Award winning Jamaican reggae artist, Roy ‘Gramps’ Morgan, lead member of US-based family reggae group Morgan Heritage, was unveiled in Accra, at a ceremony held at the African Regent Hotel, as the Ambassador for the 2017 Pan African Historical Theatre Festival, PANAFEST. Gramps Morgan was on a private trip to Ghana, and ended a week’s personal visit by accepting to be the brand Ambassador for the Diaspora for the 2017 edition of PANAFEST, marking the 25th anniversary of the Pan African festival.

As part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of PANAFEST, the organizers have secured a sponsorship partnership with African Regent Hotel. As the number one Afropolitan hospitality center in Ghana, the African Regent Hotel is supporting this year’s PANAFEST by providing excellent discounted rates for rooms for guests attending PANAFEST this year.

African Regent Hotel also served as meeting points for the planning committee of PANAFEST. The hotel also hosted the cocktail event for the launch of the 2017 PANAFEST in April.

The Minister of tourism, Culture and Creature Arts, Mrs Catherine Afeku on Thursday 25 May, officially launched the 2017 PANAFEST in Cape-Coast, in the central region of Ghana.

Although PANAFEST activities are usually held in Cape Coast in the Central Region, the 2017 edition marking the 25th anniversary of the festival will commence on July 25th with wreath-laying ceremonies at the tombs of Pan-African stalwarts, W.E.B. Dubois, George Padmore and Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, in Accra and end on August 2, back in Accra, with an International Musical concert.

Activities to be hosted in Cape Coast during the 10-day festival include the opening of an emporium and visual arts exhibition, visits to Historical Sites, series of International Variety Performances, the Panafest Colloquium and the Grand Durbar of Chiefs, Queenmothers and people.
